Is Lilia an Overleaf alternative?
For many papers, yes. Lilia runs in your browser with nothing to install and writes real LaTeX. The difference is the surface: you write in visual blocks, and Lilia keeps valid LaTeX underneath, which you can read, export and hand to anyone.
Does Lilia use real LaTeX?
Yes. Every document is backed by LaTeX that Lilia compiles with a real TeX engine. Validate tells you whether the document compiles and, if not, which block to fix.
Can I collaborate with co-authors in real time?
Yes. Share a document to read and comment on any plan; co-authors who edit come with Pro. Changes appear for everyone as they are made, and version history lets you go back to any saved version.
What formats can I export to?
PDF, LaTeX (a single .tex or a full project as .zip), Word (.docx), HTML and Markdown.
Is there a free plan?
Yes: 3 documents, every export, the compile check and a small Ask Lilia allowance, for as long as you like.
What happens if I stop paying?
Your documents stay yours. Beyond 3, they become read-only until you upgrade or pick which 3 to edit. Nothing is deleted.
Does Lilia support BibTeX and citations?
Yes. Add BibTeX entries, cite them as you write, and Lilia produces the bibliography in the PDF, the LaTeX and the Word export.
Can I import my existing LaTeX project?
Yes. Import a .tex file or a project .zip, a Word document, or LML, and keep editing it in blocks or as LaTeX.
Do I need to install anything?
